The impact of Covid-19 on online education
Covid-19’s impact on education.
The Covid19 pandemic is wreaking havoc all over the world. It has impacted every region of the country and the world. Today, the COVID 19 epidemic, which is destroying all of the old educational systems, has raised the question of whether online education will be able to become synonymous with the education system that was previously in place. Will the introduction of PM e-education provide students with a better education?
Because of the pandemic, online education is becoming a requirement for educators. As a result, teachers are increasingly delivering lectures via video platforms such as #Zoom, #GoogleMeet, #Go-to-Meeting, #Webexmeet, #FacebookLive, and #YoutubeLive.
none of these platforms can fully fulfil the purpose
However, none of these platforms can fully fulfil the purpose of online education. As a result, a specially designed dedicated online platform to serve the purpose of online learning is required. Students and teachers can be easily trained in digital systems used in online teaching systems using this method.
To meet the larger goal of PM e-learning, the Ministry of Human Resource Development also operates a series of web platforms to meet the needs of different learning levels, which are coordinated by national coordinators such as AICTE, NCERT, IGNOU, UGC, NPTEL, NIOS, IIMB, NITTTR, and CEC to provide aspirants with up-to-date and high-quality content.
– For School Education :- #NIOS, #NCERT
– For out of school education :- #IGNOU, #NITTTR, etc.
– For Undergraduate Courses :- #AICTE, #CEC, #NPTEL, #IIM-B, etc.
– For Post Graduate Courses :- #UGC, #AICTE, #IIMB, #NPTEL etc.
challenges in e-learning platforms
1. Non-Interactive Teaching- Learning without the opportunity for face-to-face interaction.
2. There is no proper way to track students’ learning and comprehension in an online class.
3. Difficulty perceiving students’ seriousness and attentiveness during online lecture delivery.
4. Administration of mid- and end-of-semester exams.
5. Inability to review lab sessions (Practicals), viva, and project.
6. Difficulties in resolving student doubts and counselling.
7. Difficulty in uploading questions or adding material to the evaluation platform.
8. The absence of presentable teaching materials (PPT/Notes).
9. To provide students with on-the-job training and industrial visits for practical knowledge.
solution to the current and future situation
Google also launched #GoogleClassroom in 2014, which offers similar functionality but has some limitations. Similarly, #IITB operates an e-learning platform called #Bodhitree. This could be an option for overcoming e-learning challenges. As a solution to the current and future situation caused by Covid 19, I believe that all universities and educational institutions should have their own learning or online teaching platform in this day and age. All universities and educational institutions must also establish a #LMS-based education portal. Large institutes such as #IIT #Bombay have also begun online teaching workshops; other universities and institutes should also train their teachers for this type of technology.
